About the Event
The TechSolent Round The Harbours charity bike ride is an annual event, designed to pull our TechSolent community together and raise money for local charities. Entry fees go to TechSolent CIC, and riders are welcomet ro raise money for their own charities or the TechSolent selected one. No minimum charity commitment required.
The event is suitable for all ages and levels of fitness. The route starts at Fareham, runs through Portchester and Farlington to Hayling Island, down the Billy Trail to the Hayling Ferry, along Southsea seafront to the Gosport Ferry, then up through Gosport back to Fareham - 31 miles. It is generally on paths or cycleways, with only a small amount of the journey on public roads.
As it hugs the coast it is very flat, it could be done in 2 hours, but most people take their time, stop for chips on the way, and finish in around 4 hours. Ferries run every 20 mins or so, so you will need to factor in a bit of waiting time unless your planning skills are exemplary.
Historically, people have started from different points on the route, as a circular route that is perfectly fine. This year, we intend to meet up in the Cams Mill pub once people have finished for a post ride refreshment.
Its great fun, lovely way to see our beautiful Solent area, and a good way to meet a few like minded locals!
NB - This is an unmarshalled, self managed event. Riders take part at their own risk, TechSolent CIC take no responsibility for any injury sustained whilst taking part in this event.
Standard entry (all ages) covering administration, with all profits going to TechSolent (Not For Profit) CIC for onbound distribution to our nominated charity for 2022.£20.00
